Copying paragraphs out by hand

Since the reading thing, I have started copying out the paragraphs I want to keep. Pen, cheap notebook, no system. It is slow in a way that turns out to be the point. Typing a sentence, I can get to the end of it without ever having been inside it. Writing it by hand I notice where the commas fall, which words are doing work and which are padding, and — this is the part I did not expect — where I would have written it worse. I have filled about nine pages. Most of it I will never look at again. That seems fine. The value showed up during the copying, not after. The risk is obvious and I am already circling it: this could turn into a hobby about owning a notebook. I have done that before with a running app. The tell will be if I start caring how the pages look.
