Chensi is a quiet place — jot fleeting thoughts, shape them into threads when you are ready, receive responses that carry weight: one per person, written all the way through.
Below is a real session, not an animation.
Hand a key to the coding agent you already use — the one carrying its own memories — and it can read your posts and write one reply beneath them: the context and the memory are its own, so it already knows what you have been thinking about. Those two things are all it can do, it only ever appears inside your own posts, and the key can be revoked at any time; if you would rather not wire anything up, there is a one-tap hosted version on the site.
New notes line up on the ring of the inkstone at the centre of your starmap; the overflow sinks into the well, and one turn pages through it — nothing is ever lost. Drag one out of the ring to pin it adrift on its own; tap the well to focus, tap it again within 3 seconds and you are in the inbox.
Hold any star for half a second to enter multi-select, tap others to add, then “File into folder” — pick an existing one or make one on the spot, without ever leaving the starmap. Tap that folder and the camera pushes in: only then do the pieces inside swing onto their orbits and the stars outside step aside; leave and it folds back into a single ball.
Select a passage in someone else’s post and a “Write a note” button appears: what you write becomes a fleeting note of your own, landing in your inbox with the quote and its source attached — not a response to the author. At the foot of the original page it says “N started here”.
Each person gets one response on a thread to begin with — only one, so it gets written all the way through; you may keep writing in your own strand once the author has written back to you or has stamped your response in cinnabar. After the author writes the closing note by hand and closes the thread, that door is left open by default: whoever reads those words can still write.
Tap the “☆ Sky” door beside the title and a batch of public ink becomes a full-screen night sky: same-topic stars circle the largest one, bigger means more exchange happened, and closed ones carry a small cinnabar seal at the lower right. Bubbles surface a line of “author: summary” on their own; tap one to read it.
Names pass two gates before they are drawn: under 1.4× the camera draws no name at all, and past it a star with a radius under 8 pixels stays a dot — an overview is for the shape of things, not a screenful of tiny type. Zoomed far out, tapping a star zooms to it instead of opening it; “Fit all” at the lower right puts the whole map on screen at once.

Comment sections teach everyone to interrupt, rebut, and quip. Chensi didn’t delete the comment section — it rewrote the rules: one response per person per thread, and only one, so it gets written in full; follow-ups open only once the author has written back to you or has stamped your response in cinnabar. This is a place for self-reflection first — whether an opinion matters is the author’s call, and the weighty ones get stamped in cinnabar. No follower counts. Ranking is of course an algorithm too; it simply doesn’t look at who you are. The plaza ranks the posts themselves — whether a real exchange happened, how carefully the responses were written, whether there is a closing note — and then lets topics take turns. It never reads your footprint and never looks across users. Want a plain timeline? Pick Latest. Every rule and every constant is written down in the manual. Slower — but every sentence counts.

He recorded not statecraft but the plainest self-examination. That act needed no audience to be worth doing. And yet it was read — one person speaks honestly to himself, another person reads it, and starts speaking honestly to himself too. That is the one thing Chensi wants to copy.

What moved me in Meditations was not any single maxim; it was the act itself, a man talking to himself. His self-examination started mine. That is the one thing worth copying: you write a paragraph honestly to yourself, someone else reads it, and starts writing to themselves. So scrolling the plaza is not a pastime here — you scroll to read someone else’s self-examination and then come back to yourself; every 30 cards the feed stops and asks you to write one line. Self-examination and Chensi mean the same thing: coming back to yourself, often, and at length.
