Chensi is a place for being honest with yourself. Every fleeting note, every response, is something someone wrote with care. Responses run one per person, follow-ups only after the author has written back or stamped one in cinnabar; no dunking. Ordering is out in the open too: the plaza ranks the posts themselves — whether a real exchange happened, how carefully the responses were written, whether there is a closing note — and lets topics take turns; it never reads your footprint and never looks at who you are, and Latest is a plain timeline. Every rule and constant is written down in the manual. We keep this compact short — short enough to remember after one read — because what truly holds this community together is how we treat one another's words, not the rules themselves.
1. Respond sincerely, or not at all
One earnest sentence beats ten courtesies. If you have nothing you truly want to say, not writing is fine.
2. A response is a gift, not a debate
The author is offering their own puzzlement, not a position to be argued down. Share your experience and view; no need to settle who is right.
3. Respect the "keeping it to myself" boundary
Some notes are meant for the author's own ears. If a thread is not open for responses, treat it as a door left ajar — without an invitation in.
4. Unmarked does not mean rejected
There is no like leaderboard here, and no downvote. If your response was not specially marked, it simply was not specially needed — it was not judged.
5. A pen name is not a free pass
You may write under an alias, but every sentence is still yours. Treat anonymity as room for candor, not cover for cruelty.
6. Authors have the final say over their threads
How to mark responses, when and how to close — these are the author's rights. It is their own site of thinking.
7. Report abuse
If you see harassment, insults, spam, or ads disguised as responses, report them. We take every report seriously.
Automatic filtering and human review
What gets filtered automatically
Public content passes an automatic filter as it is published. Sexually explicit and unlawful content is stopped and never goes out; insults, harassment and advertising go out as usual but queue for human review. Some content turns visible only to you — it stays in your account and you can read it whenever you like; it simply does not enter the plaza, the night sky, or search. Writing about hurting yourself is never stopped; the page just adds a line pointing to someone you can talk to.
How reporting works
Anyone can report public content. Once three different people have reported the same thing, it is pulled from the Plaza, the sky and search (the page itself still opens) and waits for the site operator to review it: restored if it holds up, taken down if it does not. The outcome shows on that content’s own page, so nobody has to ask twice. Private and friends-only content is outside all of this — it is never reviewed and cannot be reported.
Appeals
Stopped, hidden, or turned visible only to you — every one of these can be appealed. We do not explain the details of a call, because spelling them out is a lesson in getting around them, but every appeal is read by a person.
